As with any profession, along the way, you're going to encounter people who will try to discourage you. Writing is no exception. People may try to tell you that you're not talented enough, that you're not doing the right things, or that your work will never sell for one reason or another. You can never take that kind of talk to heart. Don't allow any sort of negative thinking to stop you from moving forward. You have to believe in yourself and in your writing. If you don't, your pessimism will show through in your story, and it won't be your best work.
The good news is that there are positive people out there too. Have a support group of individuals who will encourage you. You'd be surprised what a difference it makes in how you feel and write. In the end though, you have to love yourself and love your work. You need to be your biggest fan. When people ask you what your favorite book is, you should tell them, "Mine." Believe in yourself, or nobody else will.
If you want to become a successful author, you need to have a strong sense of belief in your writing and in yourself. If you stay optimistic, others will feed off of your positive energy and you will make a difference in the world. You'll be pleased to see all the smiles that you can create when you wholeheartedly believe in what you do.
