Many in the writing industry suggest writers join critique groups to get feedback on their work. This is a perfectly good idea, and if you want to do that for your own writing, I would tell you to go for it.
However, I want to emphasize that while it's great to receive input on your work, you need to trust your own writing instincts when it comes time to edit your story. Others' suggestions are often valid, and you can learn a lot by listening to fellow writers' opinions, but you also must listen to your inner voice. You know your story and your characters better than anyone else, and you need to trust yourself to make the best decisions for your work.
Go with your gut. If something doesn't feel right, fix it. Likewise, if you reach the end of your editing and revising with a sense of completion and the confidence that you've done everything you can to make your story wonderful, give yourself a pat on the back. You did it, and you should be immensely proud of yourself.
Always trust your instincts. They will never steer you wrong.
Happy writing! :)
